In this release, we introduce an enhancement to an existing feature.

import company/devices enhancements

we extended our importing feature to be richer and more convenient. now, you can find a dedicated tab for importing data. This tab will give you three choices

 import devices only,

 import company with its vehicles and devices,

 import vehicles/devices to an already existing company.

All three importers have the following steps in common:

  1. The first step and the most important one is to download the template of the importer in-use. Using the wrong template won’t make any progress

  2. Then, Fill in the template with the appropriate data

  3. Upload the filled template to the platform

  4. Validate and take the appropriate action.

Now, let’s highlight the most vital points in each importer.

Import Devices:

In the devices template, you need to fill in the IMEI column. The SIM and serial number are optional information to be filled in. after uploading the file, the system will validate it and give you the number of valid records (in green) that can be imported and the number of not valid records (in red) that won’t be imported.

The system will also show the error message in the table of the IMEIs with several actions that you can take.

Import Company:

Importing companies is being accomplished through 2 steps:

a. Create the company: After uploading the filled-in template, the importer will validate the company information first, if passed, it’ll inform you that the information you entered is valid and enable the button “Create The Company” so you create your company and continue to the next step.

b. Insert the vehicles/devices: after successfully creating the company, the system will validate the uploaded IMEIs and show you the valid IMEIs/vehicles in green, IMEIs with a warning message in amber, and error IMEIs in red along with the error message.

  • N.B.1 IMEIs with warning messages always need to be inserted one by one so you can be completely aware of what is going on. You can edit the fields inline for a quicker action.

  • N.B.2 The beacon in the importers is the devices’ IMEIs. Any possible issue on the inserted IMEI will make the insertion fails.

  • N.B.3 The importer accepts inserting a record containing an already existing unassigned IMEI. But can never accept a record containing an already existing and assigned IMEI. In the former, the system will create the inserted vehicle and assign it to the existing IMEI.

Import Vehicles/Devices:

This is notably useful in case you need to enlarge an already existing company.

  • It can add new vehicles assigned to new devices

  • Or new vehicles assigned to already existing unassigned devices.

To use this importer, you need to follow the same steps of the other importers in addition to an extra step which is to choose the target company name.
